Saturday 24th July Saxmundham Primary School Summer Fun Day

July 13th, 2010 Neil No comments

The Brook Farm Residents Association 7th annual Fun Day is on Saturday 24th July at Saxmundham Primary School commencing 1pm. A true family and local event.
This year we will be joined on the field by Zebedee Bouncy Castles, including the Town FM mega slide, bungee run, gladiator duel, children’s bouncy castle, coconut shy etc.
A live band of young musicians will be performing from our music tent.
There will be our usual fully licensed bar under our large covered awning serving lager, chilled wine and refreshing Pimms long drink. Also within that area will be the children’s own sweet stall with goodies at very reasonable prices. Soft drinks will also be available for them.
A BBQ will be in place selling the usual Burger and Hot Dogs. Teas and Coffees will also be available for those seeking an afternoon cuppa.
Saxmundham tennis club will again be setting up the short tennis court all for free and There will be the Tug O War for the big clash between ‘Abbey’ and ‘Bovis’. Last year’s winners (Bovis) need to retain the title. I wonder who the best is. There’s only one way to find out………..  It did get a bit competitive.
Bring the children and let them enjoy themselves. Lots and lots of things to enjoy for a great family day out on your own doorstep. We promise that Bfra 2010 fun day will be another great day out and we look forward to your continued support.

Purse Theft Saxmundham

June 23rd, 2010 Neil No comments

In Church Street Saxmundham at around 10.30am this morning Wednesday 23rd June a quantity of cash was stolen after an offender removed a purse from a shoppers handbag. The purse was recovered nearby.

Police are urging shoppers to be vigilant and offer the following advice:

·       Always keep your bag on your person and the top secured with a zip. Opportunist thieves will find it much harder to get into your bag if it s done up. Wear a shoulder bag across the front of your body. Never leave your bag unattended on a trolley or pushchair, or on the floor as you look at items in shops or are seated.

·       Don t carry around large sums of money or valuables. Don t keep your PIN with your bank cards – if a thief takes this they will be able to access your bank account before you can cancel your cards.

·       Use a purse bell, which will ring and alert you and others if someone tries to remove your purse from your bag. These are available from your local police station or Safer Neighbourhood Team.

·       If someone asks for your help in a shop, only give it if you are happy to. If you do help someone, keep hold of your bag at all times. If someone pushes or bumps into you check your bag immediately.

·       If you find your purse or bag has been stolen, call police and cancel bank cards and mobile phones. A call to police as soon as the theft has been discovered may enable CCTV operators to scan the area for the offender.
